The added value of a UK local

Why choose to work with me? Well, I’m immersed in the everyday life of your English-speaking customers. In fact, I’m one of them. I know their lingo. I’m British, born and bred, and only translate into my mother tongue. I know the girls who’ll be wearing your natural makeup, the guys who’ll be drinking your green smoothies and the mums who’ll be buying your organic childrenswear. And I know what makes them tick.

I spend a lot of time studying the market and how English-speaking brands communicate, so that your English communications won’t be overlooked – or even worse, get noticed for all the wrong reasons. I keep up to date with what’s going on in your sector and how consumer attitudes are changing in the English-speaking world – so you don’t have to.

Plus, I’ve lived in Germany and Austria for a total of twelve years, I work with German-speakers every day and I specialise in translations for sustainable businesses. That means I understand your lingo and your industry too. So entrusting me with your all-important copy and content is the natural choice.

You’re growing your business.

Inspire your audience with all-natural English.

Qualified and experienced

Oh, and in case you’re wondering… I have plenty of professional experience and the all-important bits of paper too:

  • 12 years of professional translation experience
  • 6 years’ employment with the UK government (Media and Public Relations Section, British Embassy Berlin)
  • 3 years as a freelance interpreter for the European Commission, Parliament and other institutions
  • Year-long editorial traineeship with the publisher Cornelsen Schulverlage GmbH
  • MA Interpreting and Translating (Distinction), University of Bath
  • DipTrans IoLET (Merit), Chartered Institute of Linguists
  • BA (Hons) and MA (Cantab) Modern and Medieval Languages, University of Cambridge
  • Cambridge CELTA (English teaching qualification)
  • Member of the UK’s North West Translators’ Network
  • Graduate of the Business School for Translators

I was educated in the UK, at two of the country’s leading universities, by teachers who were among the very best in their fields. I then worked as an in-house translator for the UK government for six years, before working regularly as a freelance interpreter for the EU institutions for three years. Two fast-paced environments where every word and nuance counts, and initiative and skill are an absolute must – values I now bring to every single project, large and small.
